Vertical Urban Farming and Filtration of Car Emissions
Long Description
In every car tunnel greenhouse gas emissions piles up and are ventilated out into the air above ground. In urban areas the ventilation goes through chimneys so that people on ground are less affected by the heavy polluted air, but the gasses still rises unfiltered out to the atmosphere contributing to global warming .
This concept propose a structure for urban farming hanging on the exiting chimneys. The C02 from cars are used to make the plants grow faster and bigger, as greenhouses often have CO2 levels 5 times higher than “normal” air. The plants will hence filter the CO2. The concept will provide clean air are as well as short traveled, locally produced, vegetables for the population in the area.
The site used is in Oslo, but the concept is applicable in every urban area with cars and tunnels.
