Jee is an ECO-efficient window system to be applied both in housing as in office buildings. Was designed to have a wide range of applications in refurbishing and new constructions. Jee takes advantage from solar radiation and the surrounding environment to improve the thermal performance, ventilation&air quality and daylighting, increasing the energy efficiency of buildings reducing their ecological impacts over its life cycle.

Jee is an ECO and energy-efficient window system to be applied in both housing as in office buildings. Was designed to be manufactured in series and have a wide range of applications in refurbishing and new constructions. By mixing passive low-tech solutions with other technologically more sophisticated, Jee takes advantage of solar radiation and the surrounding atmospheric conditions to improve significantly: the heat exchanges (gains and losses, focusing each season´s requirements), daylighting, ventilation and air quality, increasing the overall energy efficiency of buildings and reducing their ecological impacts over a 20 year cycle life.
Jee works as an high performance Tromb Wall. During a sunny winter day or in mid season´s, jee can store solar heat gains in a battery of vertical containers. At other level, the semi circular greenhouse increases cross ventilation heating the inside spaces during the day. A reflective mirror follows the sun daily cycle assuring the perfect angle of incidence. Jee increases the overall efficiency in about 30% paying it self back in 6 to 10 years.
The Lab tests performed on a prototype that was applied in a test cell built in the University of Minho Campus and monitored during an annual solar cycle, confirmed the team expectations. JEE will be an eco-smart solution to increase energy performance of buildings, as well as their systemic eco-efficiency, and it will function balancing the low thermal inertia of the new building systems
