Veemo

Veemo

Veemo melds battery, solar, pedal power, and regenerative breaking to create a non-fossil fuel based form of urban transport.

Long Description

Veemo is a three-wheeled, electric-assist, fully-enclosed bicycle. It offers car-like functionality while providing a healthy transport alternative to its riders. The Veemo will be rented in a one-way sharing network on a per-minute basis.

Veemo is classified as an electric bicycle under Canadian legislation. It is permissible to ride a Veemo both in bike lanes and on the road. By regulation, the max speed of the Veemo is 32km/h (20mph) and is equipped with a 500W motor. As you pedal, the Veemo offers motor assist based on your cadence (pedal speed) and torque. There is a solar panel on the roof of the vehicle to help recharge the battery. There are no charging stations necessary for Veemo. Depleted batteries will be swapped for fully charged packs by the Veemo team. A fully-charged battery will allow approximately 100km of travel.

Each Veemo comes equipped with power windows and doors, a headlight, daytime running lights, tail lights, indicators, a horn, and a parking brake. It can even go in reverse; just pedal backwards.

Veemo is accessible by a smartphone app. No driver’s licence is required, but potential riders have to be considered legal adults. A Veemo can be reserved for free, rented for one-way trips or multiple errands, and parked in motorcycle or car parking spots. Riders are insured at no extra charge.

Veemo allows riders to add exercise to their daily commute while not holding them at the mercy of inclement weather. Veemo is a sustainable alternative to traditional car-shares.
