Roll-Estate: A retail, and service infrastructure along bicycle paths, to both serve citizens who choose the bicycle as a primary means of transport, and to encourage new riders to choose the bicycle, we see a major opportunity to meet them where they ride, and provide them with convenient services.
A retail and service infrastructure would allow retailers to set up small-scale shops directly along bike paths. This would provide:
– Weather shelter;
– Safety;
– Products/groceries that the rider might need for after work/ school;
-Social gathering places, like cafes;
-Repair, adjustments. maintenance;
-Products to make the ride more comfortable;
-Low cost retail or pop-up space that encourages young entrepreneurs.
