binee developed the new business model “ad-sponsored recycling” to support our main objective: to increase the collection rates of electronic waste.

In EU, more than 80% of e-waste is not collected and therefore not recycled, leading to a loss of raw materials for new products and lack of resource efficiency. In addition, no reliable data about real waste collection – legislators are uninformed which waste is  collected, and where

binee proposes a user-centered approach with reward-based incentives for the ones who recycle their old electronics. binee solves the problems stated above by:

binee revolutionizes the recycling interface. binee is a new concept of how the user can be rewarded for recycling his/her electronic waste. The binee collection box rewards a user who deposits an e-waste device, with a coupon (e.g. a free session at the local gym).

The binee collection boxes are interactive collection points for consumers’ electronic waste located in convenient locations around the city. Whenever you have a broken or old device, you can check where your nearest binee is, insert the device inside the binee and redeem a coupon of your choice.
