Reclaimed shirts upcycling

Reclaimed shirts upcycling

Comas is an upcycling clothing brand based in São Paulo. We produce women clothes using reclaimed men shirts and fabric waste from clothing factories as raw material.

Long Description

Founded by uruguayan designer Agustina Comas, the brand Comas, produces its clothing through upcycling, process by which discarded products and materials are reclaimed, transformed and re-collocated into the market. Everyday in the textile industry, many garments are left apart for not being approved in quality controls. For us this waste is raw material.

Comas’ process starts with selecting discarded garments and fabric waste. Researches are done in factories for identifying the best fabrics and constructions. Comas’ product mix includes shirts, tanks, skirts dresses and trousers. Durability, classic style, simplicity and timeless design characterize Comas’ products.

Our team conceived the product development and producing processes. Agustina has been working on this process since 2008. We work with a group of very skillful sewers that were trained for building our pieces. The cutting process is all made inside our warehouse where we also stock and sort the raw material (waste).

For scaling our production we must work on growing sales throw e-commerce and teaching more sewers and cutters to build the garments with this upcycling technique.
