Increasing social resilience to adapt to climate change. To be resilient, societies must generally demonstrate the ability to buffer disturbance, self-organize, and learn and adapt. Research shows that ‘community engagement may offer a means of reducing vulnerability to the natural hazards associated with climate change. Flexibility within cultural traditions and networks make other forms of response possible for this community, such as food-sharing networks and intercommunity trade’. Especially in light of growing concerns about the pace of human-driven changes to our planet, the sharing economy’s positive environmental impact is not to be dismissed. Sharing economy helps reduce waste, and inspire us to recycle.

We believe that community-based platform enhances adaptive behaviors by building networks that are important for coping with extreme events and by sharing resources and protect ecological systems. It also gives us the opportunity to rethink concepts such as ownership or materialism.

SquadUp is the non-profit hub that empowers networks in building resilience in both social and ecological systems. Anywhere you are in the world and at any time, you can access shared economy initiatives taking place in your close surrounding. It is a tool that gathers shared economy initiative already existing and allows communities to easily find them.
