Reed Field’s Pavilion – Ecological Observation Center floating on lake Sainoko-

Reed Field’s Pavilion – Ecological Observation Center floating on lake Sainoko-

We propose "ecological observation center" floating on lake Sainoko by Reed. you can see various kinds of animals and plants living in the lake on this boat.

Long Description

Lake Sainoko is a big pond around Lake Biwa. Since ancient times, it has played an important role as a place of growth of animals and plants unique to Lake Biwa and as a purification function of Lake Biwa water quality. Many Reeds inhabit in the waterfront of lake Sainoko.

Last time Reed was a valuable resource in lake Sainoko, but Reed industry has declined steadily due to the development of new materials, the decline of competitiveness due to globalization of market. There are problems that Reeds is no longer used in our life, increasing the number of abandoned reeds that are not managed.

Reeds that are not managed adversely affect landscapes, water quality, and ecosystems.

We propose “ecological observation center” floating on lake Sainoko by Reed.

This Ecological Observation Center is a special place where you can experience various kinds of animals and plants living in the lake by patrolling like reed’s boat and observing it. Using reed’s characteristic, “long”, “Sustainable”, “light” to make floor like floating rings, vertical piller and horizontal roof formation. It also uses a simple construction method that can be regularly changed, just like the circulation that grows and is cut down in a cycle. As a result, we can expect the possibility of environment as useless neglected periodically and new building materials.
