Long Description

We want to be different, we want to challenge the norm. We think systematically. We value
the laws of science. We believe being a bit bold is a good thing.

The way we use buildings are changing. People like flexible and open spaces. People want to
feel connected to each other and to their surroundings. People look for new experiences.

So let´s do something different. Let´s cool buildings using nearby water sources, such as the
sea, rivers or groundwater. We propose to pump water directly through radiatior like panels,
bringing about two types of heat transfer: radiation and convection. When complemented by
natural ventilation and humidity absorving finishings, thermal confort is achieved whilst using
a fraction of the energy that traditional systems use.

Our solution is an alternative, low tech, low energy, cooling system that can be easily
replicated in other buildings and adapted to other climates. Those buildings will be more
energy independent, healthier, resilient and flexible, and as such better equipped for the next
generations.

The project is part of a bigger story, that of the transformation of the historic Cassino da Urca
in Rio de Janeiro, into the next IED Innovation LAB, set to open its doors in 2019. Our team is
looking for the opportunity to fine tune the solution and to increase its impact and visibility.
