Rain data intelligence service that delivers realtime information to alert the population, public entities and companies about rain impacts.
Long Description
Pluvi. On is a rain data intelligence service that uses a low cost and hyperlocal weather ground sensors network to collects rainfall data (volume, intensity and humidity, aside from temperature) and delivers real-time information to alert the population, public entities and companies about hyperlocal weather conditions, heavy rainfall, floods and landslide risks.
Climate changes may intensify severe climate events throughout the world, and cities have to prepare themselves to be more resilient and adapted to deal with these new conditions. Our main objective is to prevent life threats and minimize financial losses caused by these events.
For that, we’ve been tackling the issue based on 2 pillars:
- IoT Application: We have developed a low-cost rain gauge network to collect the rainfall information and to be deployed covering the cities hyperlocally with low infrastructure investment. The hardware is based on open technologies of the best pluviometers composed of 2 sensors, one that measures temperature and humidity and the tipping bucket that measures rainfall volume and intensity. We use Wi-Fi (when available) and GPRS to communicate in real time. We also developed an open source version to be built by anyone, so we can build a very dense grid with the collaboration of the population, the main beneficiaries of this information available.
- Real-time and direct communication with users: For the population, we have already developed chatbots (currently, Telegram and Facebook Messenger platforms) to send public alerts and notifications and check in real time what are the conditions wherever the users want.
