By the simplest act of growing a garden (or thousands) we want to help the planet (and ourselves) cool the heck down.
Long Description
After five years of ups and downs, after a million “it’s impossible” and a few “you can do it”, we consolidated a functioning urban garden in the middle of Mexico City. Now, thanks to the help of a team of architects, designers and farmers, but mostly, thanks to the good will of every single person that has been involved in our project, we have decided it is time to move forward. After all the expertise gained —not only in gardening, but in crowdfunding, designing, planning, public speaking and so on— we want to share what we’ve learned. We want to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, to design, grow and harvest their own urban garden in an attempt to replicate our project in every city in North America.
We are convinced of the immense impact urban gardens have in urban environments –not only as an alternative to a conventional food system, but as a way of creating community, educating societies, changing bad practices and most importantly, as a viable solution to climate change–. That’s why, with the help of technology and design, we want to empower anyone with the will to make a change. Through an online platform, we want to make available every single draft, architectural plan and design we have used to consolidate our urban garden However, we are well aware that handing out plain theory does not make a great teacher, that’s why, hand in hand with these, we want to develop audio guides, videos and even live hangouts to complement our education method.
